Category

Bibhitaki is a large deciduous tree found throughout India reaches height up to 30 meters. Fruits are grey colored drupes, ovoid in shape. Sweet kernels inside the hard covering of fruit are sweet in taste. Its fruit resembles to haritaki fruit but without ridges. This herb is one of the ingredients among triphala.

Tannins (20-30%) Gallic acid, Tannic acid, Ellagic acid, Phyllemblin, Ethyl gallate, Galloyl glucose and water-soluble extractives (40-45%)

It is used as an astringent and in the treatment of Dyspepsia and Diarrhoea. It is a constituent of Triphala.
